What is Head Start?

Douglas County Head Start is a comprehensive pre-school program serving low-income families. Children receive education services to increase their school readiness. Parents are assisted in overcoming barriers to self-sufficiency. Head Start works with the entire family and offers all family members opportunities to develop to their full potential. We provide a positive, respectful environment for growth and awareness for both parents and children.

Josephine County residents may find information about Head Start at www.socfc.org or by calling (541)734-5150.

What does Head Start cost?

Head Start costs nothing. All of our services are provided free of charge to eligible families.

Is my child eligible for Head Start?

Head Start serves 3 and 4-year-old children from families who are low-income or receive public assistance or have special needs such as a mental, physical, or learning disability. For complete information on eligibility requirements call (541)673-6306.

How do I apply?
