We may be able to help you with your rent or mortgage payment if you have an eviction notice or a referral from another agency that knows your situation. We cannot help you if you do not have an eviction notice or a referral from another agency. We give out applications only at certain times each month. Please call (541)956-4460 to find out when we will be giving out applications. Once you have an application, you will have 1 week to complete and return it with all of the required documentation. You will need to have:
- Continued (ongoing) income for all members of your household. We must be able to verify this income.
- Social Security cards for each member of the household
- Picture identification for all adults in the household
- A documented crisis (eviction notice or a referral from another agency)
You must have a landlord and you will be given papers that the landlord needs to complete. If any adult member of your household is in a drug or alcohol treatment program, we will need verification that they are enrolled and in compliance with their treatment provider. Also, your rent cannot be more than 75% of your monthly income.
What if I'm being evicted/treated unfairly/discriminated against?
Your landlord has a legal right to evict you. However, there are certain rules he/she has to follow and you cannot be evicted for any illegal reasons. It is important that you fully understand what you can and cannot legally do in this situation. For example, just posting a notice on your door is not enough to make you move. Your landlord must get a court order. He/she cannot make you move by changing the locks, shutting off your utilities or taking your belongings. Please read Oregon's Landlord/Tenant laws for more information.
