What is the Confidence Clinic?
The Confidence Clinic is an academic and supportive service offering a self-sufficiency program for women of all ages, offering several 10 week sessions per year. The course includes training in assertiveness, communications, parenting, values, goal setting, decision making, problem solving, teamwork, anger management, career exploration, job search skills, and self-esteem building. Skills learned reduce the participants' dependency on public assistance programs and increase their ability to enter further training or employment. Additional academic subjects (including Adult Basic Education and Review, GED preparation and computer literacy) are offered to Condfidence Clinic students.
The Confidence Clinic serves about 120 women each year; most classes are held in Roseburg with summer classes offered in South Douglas County to serve women in this area. Similar services for men will be held in the evenings beginning January 2010.
