United Community Action Network
Helping People, Changing Lives - Serving Douglas and Josephine Counties

In the interest of the public health, UCAN has decided to close most of our offices to public traffic, beginning March 16th, 2020. We value the well-being of our community and want to minimize exposure to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) for the vulnerable individuals we serve.

We will continue to provide many services by phone.Due to public school closures and to the fact that so many of our Head Start facilities are co-located with the public schools in Douglas County, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close our Head Start sites, effective this Monday March 16th, suspending all Head Start services. We will be working next week to come up with creative ways to assist our Head Start families and will reopen our sites in conjunction with the public schools.

Additionally, we have made the difficult decision to limit the physical reception of our customers for all of our sites. This does not mean that we are shutting down all programs. Customers will be provided information on how to make telephone contact to receive UCAN services. This information will be posted at our office sites, website, and Facebook pages. As changes occur in public directives, we will use these tools to keep our community updated.

We all recognize that UCAN is an essential service provider in our communities. Like so many other organizations, we are and will continue to do our best. UCAN’s mission is to serve those in need in our communities. Our operations adjustments have put the health and safety of our customers and staff first. We will be monitoring state and federal relief aid initiatives and partnering with our local agencies to address those immediate needs in Douglas and Josephine Counties.

These decisions have been made in consultation with the UCAN Board of Directors and the UCAN Leadership Team.
