Neither our Josephine nor our Douglas County Food Banks provide food directly to residents. Instead, our Food Banks provide food to a host of other agencies who in turn make that food available to people who qualify for it. If you are interested in learning how to grow your own food, or would like to practice your gardening skills, our Josephine Food Bank does have a small farm where you can learn these skills. You can contact the Food Bank at (541) 479-5556.
If you are pregnant or are a mother of young children, you may qualify for WIC benefits that will help you help you pay for certain foods.
There are many ways to obtain additional, free food in our communities. You might qualify for a free food box containing several days worth of food. You might be able to eat free food at a local site. You might even be able to have free food delivered to your home. In addition, you may qualify for food stamps which cover the cost of many foods you purchase at your local store.
To talk to someone about these different options, you can call 211Info by dialing 211 toll-free anywhere in Oregon.
